the dino mountain christmas special

Parkey and Finn made this lovely snow gnome at the Anthill.

Santa brought this cage which we filled with two beautiful mice at the pet store yesterday. Their names are Gramomi and Blue. Finn, August and Ayvind all Love them. Finn is involved in behavioral studies of the rodent family. So far, "the mice are really active and have worm like tails." More to come....

Finn got a microscope for Christmas and studied Omi's blood (for real).

The pterodactyl arrived along with everything else dinosaur related in the whole world. It was a very dino Christmas.

Finny reining in her brothers.

partridge in a pear tree

Gingerbread house construction

and finished!

The elves have been bringing a mitten of goodies to our house each day. They hang it on the Christmas branch.
According to Finn it took about fifty elves to deliver the branch and hang it. There were tiny muddy elf footprints everywhere. Each mitten takes a five elf team. In case you were wondering... now you know.

Make that TWO walkers

The progressing mobility of the boys: over the spring, Ayv worked and worked at crawling until he finally got it, Auggie watched him and once he saw Ayvind do it, started right up. Now with this walking thing, August gave it a spin first, after both of them spending lots of time thinking about it. August tried it, got some steps in and then checked it off his list and has pretty much decided crawling works better for now. Ayvind, on the other hand, waited a little longer, but once he tried it and it worked, he has spent 10 minutes or so at a time walking a few steps to me, dropping, crawling back to his starting place and walking back again, lots of practice. The best part is how they look totally floored by the fact that they walked each time.

towers

August has been really into building towers with anything he can find. His latest masterpieces have included this block tower, yogurt cup towers and an amazing french fry tower at Eat n Park.

Ayvind prefers crashing the towers.

They are a good team.

Dirds

Auggie loves the penguins at the Aviary. He and Ayvind call them "dirds" and like all birds they say "hoo hoo". (They also really like owls).

Finn and Randy went through a hay tunnel at Soergel's. Finn had the flashlight and was much faster.

Ayvind rode a pony at Soergel's. He was indifferent.

Cute kids in the tub.

Finn is being a T Rex for Halloween this year. She gave her costume a test run at the Zoo Boo this weekend. It worked out well for her.

Fall!

Enjoying the square dancing at the PumpkinFest!

Working on Finn's jack-o-lantern. She picked out the biggest pumpkin they had, it weighed as much as her. She wanted to give it a "very very scary face."

And there it is, very very scary (and funny, according to Auggie).

Finn making the same face as her pumpkin.

Paige and her boys

Paige is in the chair in the sweater. August is standing. Ayvind is in
Paige's lap. In the other pictures in the series ayv is trying to eat
his brothers head. He asked that we don't use those pictures....he
feared it would make him unemployable.
